Oberstdorf. Fellhornbahn Station
Oberstdorf is one of the main world centers of winter sports. Not surprisingly, there is a well developed ski and tourist infrastructure. We are on the top of Fellhorn, along which the border of Austria and Germany passes. From the top station of the Fellhorn-Gipfelbahn cableway, we are looking at the ski slopes and other ski lifts of the resort.
To get to an altitude of 1,975 meters above sea level and see the same picture as on your screen, you first need to get to Faistenoy, where the Fellhornbahn I funicular, with 100-seat cabins, has been operating since 1972. In 2006, a parallel cableway was opened alongside it, Fellhornbahn II, with panoramic cabins for eight passengers. This has greatly increased the tourist flow to the top of Fellhorn.
The next step is to go to the Gipfelbahn station, where you will get into a cabin for 60 passengers. It will take you to the summit in 2.5 minutes. As you can see, the slopes of Fellhorn are divided into several zones in each of which operates its own funicular.
In the background of the image, we can see numerous peaks of Himmel Shrofen, which refers to the Bavarian Alps mountain range. These peaks are about the same height as Fellhorn.
