Oberstdorf. Ice Rink in the sports complex Eissportzentrum
This Oberstdorf ice rink was opened on December 29, 1958. About 3,000 spectators can watch competitions in different disciplines. It is interesting that the ice rink, at first, had no roof, though it was supposed to be covered, as important international competitions were planned to be held on the ice.
In the 1970s, in addition to figure skating, the Second Bundesliga hockey team and curling teams trained here. At the end of the 1970s, the National Skating Training Center was created and based at the skating rink. By 1981, young athletes trained under the same roof, on two rinks of the center.
Now, mass skating is organized on the famous skating rink, so tourists who come to Oberstdorf in search of ski slopes can also skate. The webcam is installed in the hall of ice rink 1. Thanks to it, you can observe the ice load and choose the most suitable time for visiting.
