This is another historic site in the center of Ravensburg which you can see on our website. This is Bachstraße.

First of all, it is known for its tower, Untertor. This is part of the fortified wall of the fourteenth century, wherein the machicolation was set. From Untertor, the defending side could bombard and throw stones into an advancing enemy. Thanks to the special design of the tower, the enemy was always in sight, even when they closely approached the fortress.

Bachstraße has become a major trading place in the city, where there are popular shops and cafes for local residents and tourists.

The city was mentioned in the documents of the eleventh century, which is why there are a lot of historical buildings in Ravensburg, especially in the central streets. Bachstraße abuts Schwörsaal Ravensburg, where celebrations and city holidays are held.
