Sankt Peter-Ording. Badestelle Bad Pier
A circular overview of the beach of the German resort St. Peter-Ording opens to us from the boat station, built next to the Badestelle Bad pier. On the screen, we can see the North Sea and a huge sandy beach equipped with wooden platforms. There are so-called kiosks, in which tourists sunbathe.
If you look through the webcam archive, it becomes clear that the holiday season in St. Peter-Ording does not last long. At the end of August, in northern Germany, it’s too cold and no one goes swimming. The majority of resort guests prefer windsurfing to swimmimg.
When the camera turns to the east, we can see the famous pier of the resort and the Arche Noah Restaurant, built at the very end of the wooden platform. The kilometer pier was built in 1926. Since then, it has constantly been repaired and rebuilt. It is interesting that the first time it was destroyed was a year after its construction.
Depending on the time of the year, the environment can be very different, so do not be surprised if you see nothing on the screen except the pier surrounded by the sea. Tides, during which the coastline of the resort can be shifted by hundreds of meters, are to blame for this.
