Athens. View of the Acropolis from Hotel Grande Bretagne

The webcam takes us to Athens. From Hotel Grande Bretagne, a Luxury Collection Hotel we are looking at the majestic Acropolis, located on a 156-meter high hill.

The ancient settlement is visible from any place in the city, and every visitor of Athens should visit it. This architectural complex was created by ancient Greek masters in the 5th century BC. It includes the temples of the Parthenon and the Erechtheion, the Theater of Dionysus and the Odeon of Herod Atticus. The second, by the way, still performs its original function. It is interesting that you can only go to the theater, which has a capacity of 5,000 people, to attend concerts or performances; excursions here are extremely rare.

The closest thing to this camera is the Acropolis Observation Deck, which offers a stunning view of Athens. Right behind it is the legendary Parthenon. This main temple of ancient Athens was dedicated to the goddess, Athena the Virgin. Its construction lasted almost 10 years and was completed in 438 BC. The temple was destroyed during the Turkish-Venetian war of the late 17th century. Over the next many years, the Parthenon increasingly decayed, as locals and travelers completely plundered the Acropolis.

To the right of the Parthenon are the ruins of the Erechtheion, and on the western part of the hill, the Temple of Athena Nike is seen between them.
