Thessaloniki. City Panorama
We can see the Greek city of Thessaloniki from the Agios Pavlos area. We can see several major attractions of the city, as well as the Gulf of the Aegean Sea, Thermaikos. You can see the church of St. Paul, the main city hospital in the background, and the ancient wall of Byzantine fortification.
The camera is located near the White Tower, one of the symbols of Thessaloniki. The tower has a cylindrical form, a diameter of about 23 meters, and it is 34 meters high; it was used as a defensive structure in the eastern part of the city wall. The Byzantine Museum is located there now. The White Tower was built by the Turks in the beginning of the 15th century. This camera shows us the base of the White Tower.
In the background, you can see the city port. It is the second largest, in terms of cargo turnover, in all of Greece. In addition to cargo transportation, a large passenger terminal operates in the port. Due to its modernization in the early 2000s, passenger traffic in the port of Thessaloniki increased significantly.
