Vathy. Vathi Harbour

Vathi Ithaca Resort is built around the bay, which we see on the screen. The camera is installed in Mentor Hotel, which is situated next to the pier of Odysseas Sea Taxi.

If you look closely at the bay, you can see the small island of Lazzaretto, which was used as a leper colony, a hospital, and even a prison camp during the Second World War. Now, it is a memorial place of executed political prisoners. There is a small Orthodox church on the island.

The population of this main town does not exceed 2,000. Almost all residents are connected to tourism one way or another.

In the distance, we can see the mountain, located in the northern part of the island. Its height is about 750 meters above sea level, near the top is the famous temple of Moni Katharon, built in the late seventeenth century.
