The picturesque resort village of Sirahama, on the island of Honshu, is famous for its white sand beach, as well as the beautiful hills overlooking the sea. The camera, in the northern part of the beach, shows us the coastal zone, stretched along the Namariyama Bay. On the opposite side of the beach, you can see a large breakwater that allows you to swim in the sea, even during a small storm.

Shirahama Beach has an interesting shape of a crescent moon, and its name, like the name of the village, is translated as “white beach” or “white bay.” Siraham gained its popularity with residents and guests of Japan in the 1960s, when a railway line was built here. Now, tourists can get here also by air, as the Nanki-Shirahama airport has been built nearby.

Unfortunately, because of the large number of holidaymakers, the famous sand began to wash into the sea, so since 1989, Australian sand has been regularly brought to the beach. For 15 years, more than 750,000 cubic meters of sand have been imported.

Since Sirahama is developing as a seaside resort, you can find a lot of entertaining establishments here, such as the theme park, Shirarahama Adventure World, with a safari park, aquarium, and amusement park united in one place. Golf fans often come to the village because all the conditions for enjoying this elite game have been created here.
