Nairobi. Wilson Airport

The camera of Aero Club of East Africa shows the runway of Wilson Airport in the south of Nairobi. In contrast to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, which is located on the eastern outskirts of the Kenyan capital, Wilson serves regional flights.

The airport has about 120,000 takeoffs and landings per year. The main area in which it operates is tourism, as well as flights related to health and agriculture. Local rich people can fly from here to other countries, because the aircrafts are serviced faster than in the larger international airport of Nairobi.

Wilson Airport was opened in 1933 and got its present name about 30 years later. It was named after Florence Kerr Wilson, a pioneer of Kenyan aviation.
