Manawatu-Wanganui. Volcano Ngauruhoe

Ngauruhoe is an active volcano in the central part of the North Island of New Zealand, part of the Tongariro volcanic complex. It rises above the sea 2,291 meters, and the diameter of the crater is 400 meters. The last eruption of the volcano was recorded by seismologists in 1977.

Landscapes of volcanic slopes closer to the foot represent streams with a bright yellow bottom, which run between the shallow vegetation, and the frozen lava has taken intricate forms under the influence of meteorological conditions. Ngaurouhoe can be seen in The Lord of the Rings movie as Mount Orodruin.
