White Island towers over the sea at 321 meters and has a diameter of two kilometers. However, the underwater part of the volcano is 1,600 meters to the bottom. It has been 150,000 years since the first volcanic activity. The volcano erupted in March and July 2000, clogging the air and the surrounding area with smoke and ash. Additional significant eruptions occurred on August 5, 2012 and August 20, 2013.
