Drachselsried. Berghütte Schareben Mountain Hut
Traveling through deserted forests in Germany, you can stumble on such unusual mountain huts. Berghütte Schareben was built in the middle of the nineteenth century as a refuge for forest protection staff. Since 1960, the hut has been opened to all comers.
Despite its remoteness from civilization, it’s possible to reach Berghütte Schareben by car, but only in the summer months. Popular cycling and walking routes go through this hut, so there are always plenty of visitors.
Room rates are 25 euros per adult. Reservations for children are only 2 euros cheaper, which is due to the small number of rooms in the hut. The price includes a hearty breakfast.
In addition to 26 berths, this cabin has a restaurant for 70 people with delicious food and alcoholic drinks.
