Gandino. Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore
On a hill in Upper Bergamo is a Catholic shrine, Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. The construction of this church belongs to the 12th century, but for another three centuries, it was been completed and changed.
It is noteworthy that the style of the church exterior is Romanesque, while the interior is in the Baroque style. If you want to enter the Basilica, you should not try to do it through the front door, because the Episcopal Palace is attached to it. Look for entries with columns, supported by white or pink lions, one of which is visible on the screen.
By the way, in the courtyard of the Cathedral are basketball hoops, which proves that sport is popular with clergy too.
