Honomu. Neighborhood

Honomu is a small village 17 kilometers north of Hilo, Hawaii. It was once a noisy village with saloons, brothels, and shops, whose inhabitants worked for sugar moguls. Today, the village is inhabited by a little more than 500 people.

The path to the 135-meter waterfall of Akaka, the highest in Hawaii, is located six kilometers away and goes through Honomu. The waterfall is surrounded by the path, which is somewhat slippery, and leads into dense tropical jungles with huge ferns and impenetrable bamboo groves.
