Wernigerode. Zwölfmorgental Lift

We are heading to the slopes of Harz Mountain. The camera is installed in a small ski area, in the German town of Wernigerode. There is a simple one-seater drag lift, which can be seen on the left. It serves a 400-meter route for beginners.

In addition to the tourist trails and ski slope on this mountainside, there is a restaurant of European cuisine, Waldgasthaus Armeleuteberg, as well as the observation tower, Kaiserturm, built in the early years of the 20th century. The 12-meter tower, which had been declining for 100 years, was completely restored in 1992. From the observation platform of the tower, many peaks of Harz are visible, including the highest peak, Brocken. In addition, the famous Wernigerode Castle is seen from the tower.

Zwölfmorgentalschanze, a ski jumping board, is built on the slope of the mountain we can see on the screen. The first ski jumping board on this site appeared, due to the efforts of amateur skiers, in 1909. In 1925, when a full-fledged ski jumping board appeared, the first competitions, attended by 1,500 spectators, were held there.

The springboard has been modernized several times and is now suitable for jumping, in both the winter and summer. In 2005, Schanzenhaus Hotel was built directly at the jumps.
