Westendorf. Talkaser Station
Talkaser is an old chairlift built in 1989 and located next to the summit of Laubkogel. It is built on a half-kilometer stretch of the slope, but due to a large height difference (more than 150 meters), the trails below the funicular are quite steep.
Before going to the upper station of Talkaser, at an altitude of 1,767 meters above sea level, you need to travel along two sections of the Alpenrosenbahn cableway. Its six-seat cabins start from the Mühltal area and travel more than 3 kilometers in total, carrying tourists almost 1 kilometer up.
So as not to climb high into the mountains every time, vacationers can rent one of the mountain huts on the slopes of Westendorf. For example, near Talkaser Station is Alpenrosenhütte. There are rooms with four beds for only € 18 per person.
In the summer, the Talkaser Station offers a children’s playground with trampolines and other sports equipment and attractions. You can come here by car, along a serpentine road.
