Roque de los Muchachos Observatory is an astronomical observatory on the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands.

This webcam is located in front of the Liverpool Telescope. A strange name for a telescope in Spain, isn’t it? It can be explained by the fact that Roque de los Muchachos Observatory was opened in 1979 with the Isaac Newton Telescope, which was moved from the Royal Greenwich Observatory in Sussex.

Today many of the European countries can operate their own telescopes here. The observatory at the Roque de los Muchachos mountain has become a part of the European Northern Observatory.
