The town of Fujiyoshida opens a direct way to Mount Fuji and the surrounding five lakes. It is proud of its natural beauty and rich history, inseparably linked with the majestic mountain.

Local lifestyles, traditions and even industries are highly dependent on this volcano mountain. The famous Yoshida Fire Festival annually welcomes visitors from everywhere. For five hundred years, this event has been dedicated to the goddess of the volcano and is held to calm her down and prevent eruption. On the 26-27th of August, a huge torch is lit near each house; a column of glowing lights goes along the main streets and the city becomes like a sea of flame.
