Pori. Eteläranta Embankment
This webcam is located on the territory of the University Consortium of Pori, in the Finnish city of Pori. The University lies on the bank of the beautiful Kokemäenjoki river, while its academic block occupies the building of the former cotton fabric.
The first thing we can see on this picture is the Porin Silta bridge with the bell-tower of the Central Pori Church in its background. The Central Pori Church is the largest church in region of Satakunta, and one of the largest in Finland. The church was built in the end of the 19th century and is known for its unique church tower (made of cast iron), beautiful glass paintings and its pipe organ.
The first iron bridge over the Kokemäenjoki river, seen from time to time in the distance, was built in 1926 on the site of an older wooden bridge called Charlotta bridge.
Each time when this webcam turns, we can see Eteläranta Embankment and interesting historical buildings along the riverfront — the Art Museum Taidemuseo, the Satakunta Museum, Town Hall and other significant city establishments.
