Ponta Delgada. São Roque. Coast

It is unique and atypical. The coasts are mainly rocky on the Azores, so it is very difficult to find a good beach for swimming.

It is worth noting that the south coast of the island of São Miguel has more convenient access to the water, so the tourists who prefer beach holidays to grueling mountain walks, choose this resort of the Azores. Praia de São Roque and Praia da Milicia are the most famous beaches in São Roque.

Along with the great beaches, the parish church of Saint Roch is the main attraction of São Roque. The grandmother of the great Portuguese politician, José Sebastian Pombal, is buried on its territory.

On the opposite side of the small bay, which we see on the screen, is a post office, city buildings, as well as part of the ruins of an ancient fort.
