Belgrade. Brankov Bridge

Belgrade, built on the river Sava, is known for its bridges linking different parts of the city. This review camera shows us several city sights at once, but perhaps the main one is the Bridge of Brotherhood and Unity, or simply Brankov Bridge.

The 450-meter bridge is the second largest bridge in Belgrade. Its busy traffic is due to the great importance of the bridge because it connects the central part of the city with the area of New Belgrade.

Prior to the opening of the bridge, in 1957, the center and New Belgrade were connected by the bridge of King Alexander I. About 100,000 cars pass over the six-lane bridge per day.

It is interesting that in 2002, participants in the bicycle parade signed a petition in which they demanded an elevator to the bridge be built. After 3 years, the authorities put an elevator into operation, with a carrying capacity of 1,800 kilograms and a lifting height of 13.5 meters. Now, pedestrians and cyclists can quickly climb the bridge and go toward New Belgrade.
