Bovec. Peak Prestreljenik

We are on the mountain ridge of Kanin, on its southern slopes near the Slovenian resort of Bovec. The camera is installed next to the peak of Prestreljenik, whose height reaches 2,499 meters above sea level. This mountain was chosen by skiers and snowboarders, who can ski both in Slovenia and on the northern Italian slopes of the combined resort of Bovec-Sella Nevea.

If you can’t see a giant mountain structure of a bizarre shape, then the weather is bad because it’s hard not to notice this giant peak occupying almost half the screen. Prestreljenik is a natural landmark, but in addition to the record-breaking for Slovenian heights and an interesting shape, this peak has a window (Prestreljenikovo okno).

Despite its impressive size, Prestreljenik is still not the highest peak of Kanin. Visoki Kanin is 88 meters higher.

To reach the top of any of these peaks, you can use cable cars and intermediate stations mountain huts. One of the most famous is Dom Petra Skalarja na Kaninu. It was built in 1983, but the first hut appeared on Kanin in the late 19th century.
