Ljubljana. Zoo. Tigers

A cage for Amur tigers in the Ljubljana Zoo is only occasionally used by these animals. Most of the day, they are in an open-air cage, where tigers are looked at by curious visitors to the zoo.

Amur tigers are famous for their size, so even in a large aviary, the audience will be able to take a good look at these cats. Males have an average length of about 3.25 meters, and their height, at the withers, exceeds 1 meter. Usually, Amur tigers weigh 200-250 kg, and the tiger with a weight of 384 kilograms is the champion.

The tiger of the Ljubljana Zoo is called Vito. He was born on April 27, 2012, but arrived at the zoo almost 1.5 years later. The tigress got the name Vita. She was born on September 26, 2011. Vita arrived at the zoo at the same time as Vito.

Tigers came to the capital of Slovenia from different countries. Vita was born in Magdeburg (northern Germany), and Vito — in the zoo of the Hungarian city of Nyiregyhaza.

About 564 Amur tigers live in all zoos of the world. It helps preserve the population of these animals. About 50 small cubs are born in zoos every year.
