Sečovlje. The Saltworks

The Secovlje Saltworks is one of the two northernmost surviving Mediterranean saltworks and the largest salt evaporation pond in Slovenia (the second one is the Strunjan Saltworks, also Slovenian). This webcam shows us the Secovlje Saltworks.

The Secovlje Saltworks (Slovenian “Secoveljske soline”) covers about 650 hectares of wetland and at the same time represents one of the most important breeding areas for waterbirds. More than 280 bird species have been observed here and in 2001 Slovenian Government even declared the saltworks and its neighborhood the landscape park.

Visitors of The Secovlje Saltworks can enjoy guided tours around the beautiful park and learn more about the traditional way of salt producing as well as the local flora and fauna.
