Lucerne. The Coast and the Alps
This webcam is located in Lucerne, a city in the central German-speaking Switzerland. This is a popular destination both for domestic and foreign tourists. This charming city is surrounded by very beautiful natural sites like the Lake of Lucerne, the Rigi Mountain and Mount Pilatus.
Shores of the lake are spanned by several bridges. The worldwide recognizable landmark and the most famous one is the Chapel Bridge. This wooden bridge was built in 1333 and is the oldest covered bridge in Europe. The Wasserturm, also known as the Water Tower, stands in the middle. The Chapel Bridge features as well painted wooden interior triangular frames, dating back to the 17th century.
The eastern part of the city is dominated by the high spires of the Church of Saint Leodegar, locally also called “Hofkirche”. On the mountain, high above the city lies beautiful Bavarian style Chateau Gutsch. This place was built in 1888 as a luxurious private residence. Today it serves as one of the main attractions and, at the same time, comfortable old-styled hotel. Local rooms offer spectacular panoramic views over the historic city, the lake and the mountains. A charming old railway will help you get here from the city.
