We are in the easternmost part of the province of Ubon Ratchathani. Khong Chiam is on the border with Laos, which runs right along the Mekong River; you can see it on your screen.

If you move higher along the Mekong River, you will get to the famous Pha Taem National Park of Thailand, and just behind the river is the Phou Xieng Thong National Protected Area.

In the park, 3,000-year-old rock paintings and rare species of animals and plants can be found in the country’s only park on the banks of the Mekong, from the Laos’ side. Here you can meet a Sumatra-Serau or a green peacock. Unusual animals can also be found in the Pha Taem National Park, such as muntjaks, wild pigs, Burmese hares, martens and seraus that migrate here from Laos for the summer.

The Mekong River and views of Laos, from the Two-Color River View Point, attract tourists in Khong Chiam.
