Oxford. The Internet Institute

A web camera is installed on the building of the Oxford Internet Institute, a new department of one of the oldest universities in the world. It is pointed to the southern part of St Giles boulevard, located in the center of Oxford.

On the left, there is the Martyrs’ Memorial, established in memory of three Anglican bishops: Thomas Kranmer, Hugh’s Latimer, and Nikolay Ridley, who were convicted of heresy in 1555. The memorial stands in the place of a picturesque, but collapsing old house. It was opened in 1843 after two years of construction.

Rumor has it that students sometimes deceive tourists, asserting the memorial is the spire of an underground chapel or sunken church, and offer paid tours there, then they direct them to the stairway round the corner, which leads them to the public toilets.
