This is another beach of St Ives. Porthmeor is popular with swimmers and surfers. It is located just a few steps from the city center, where you can find old pubs and cafes, as well as numerous art galleries.

Porthmeor is one of the five beaches in Cornwall with the prestigious blue flag. It was awarded in recognition of water quality, safety and environmental protection. In summer, big families have holidays here, during which they sunbathe on the beach and swim in the Gulf of St Ives. Surfers come here the rest of the year.

From the beach, you can see the chapel of St. Nicholas on Cape Island, which was reconstructed several times, but is still perfectly preserved. The last major reconstruction was in 1971.
