Auburn University is one of the largest universities in the state Alabama. It has an old and interesting history starting from 1856 as the East Alabama Male College. Already in 1872 it was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama, and twenty years later became the first four-year coeducational school in the state.
