Shandaken. Belleayre Ski Resort
A rotary camera is installed on the territory of Belleayre Ski Resort in the American town of Shandaken. Trails are laid on the slopes of the Catskill mountain range. The popularity of the resort is displayed by the statistics; from 1995 to 2007 the number of vacationers in Belleayre increased by 2.5 times (from 70,000 to 175,000 people).
There were heated arguments about the possibility of building a ski infrastructure in the nature-oriented zone. The fact is that, in 1885, the territory in place of the modern Belleayre received the status of “Forever Wild”. But, after the referendum in 1949 the construction of the resort began.
In the first season, there was a modest parking lot for 300 cars, only 5 cableways, and several houses. Today, Belleayre has 8 lifts, including a high-speed quad, all of which serve dozens of routes of varying degrees of complexity.
A ski pass for one day costs $54 and given the huge number of trails, the price is more than acceptable. A season ticket costs $759, an excellent offer for residents of neighboring towns and villages.
Besides ski runs, in Belleayre you can find a huge number of routes for cross-country skiing. In the summer, you can ride a mountain bike on the slopes.
