Alpbach. Church of St. Oswald
Two and a half thousand people is the population of the Austrian village of Alpbach, which is visited annually by tens of thousands of tourists. Both in summer and winter.
The camera is installed in the southern part of the village and is directed toward the casino, tourist center, and countless Alpbach hotels. But the main building in the picture is the church of St. Oswald, the tower of which rises over the whole village.
According to historical documents, the church of St. Oswald dates back to 1369. The modern building, in the Baroque style, appeared in the early 18th century. It is interesting that during the restoration work of 1959, original paintings of the famous Tyrolean church painter, Christophe Anton Mayr, were discovered under the arches of the church.
Besides the church in Alpbach, the famous Alpbach Congress Center, built in 1999, is worth a visit. It is a unique combination of modern architecture and landscape. The major part of the Congress Center is underground and is built on an untouched mountainside.
