Bad Gastein. Mount Kreuzkogel
In front of us is one of the most incredible lifts of the Austrian ski resort, Bad Gastein. Its upper station, which we can see on the screen, is at an altitude of 2,650 meters above sea level, which is only 36 meters lower than the nearest Alpine peak, Kreuzkogel.
The cable car to the top of the mountain comes from the tourist zone, Sportgastein. In this part of the resort, there are complex ski slopes, such as Schideck or Knappensee (the second one is passing by the eponymous pond).
Since the funicular stations have a height difference of more than 1 kilometer, it is a cabin lift. A covered cabin seats up to 8 people, who can comfortably get to the top of Kreuzskogel.
Kreuzskogel is the highest altitude ski area in the entire federal state of Salzburg, so fans of thrill should go there.
