Dellach im Drautal. Panorama of the Village

We are looking at the Austrian village of Dellach im Drautal. We are looking at it from the tourist trail, Geislochklamm, situated in the southern part of the municipality, behind Drautal Bundesstraße and the river Drau.

The population of this summer tourist resort is only 1,500 people, but due to the constant flow of tourists, the infrastructure of Dellach im Drautal is constantly evolving. In earlier times, the village’s economy was based on woodworking, as well precious metals mining.

The most popular sites are Dellach im Drautal parish and Stein Castle. The church of the eighteenth century, in the late Baroque style, is located in the village, but you have to use mountain trails to get to the castle.

The castle of the twelfth century is private property, so you can’t see its interiors. The castle is owned by the old family of Austrian Counts, Orsini-Rosenberg. This family owns more than ten castles across the country.
