Heiligenblut am Großglockner. View of the Village from Zirbenhof Farm
The Austrian village of Heiligenblut is considered to be an ideal starting point for tourists in Mount Grossglockner. The village belongs to the Tauern National Park and is located in the Mall Valley. In the village and in its vicinity are hotels, mountain huts and private mini-hotels.
We are looking at Heiligenblut from Zirbenhof Farm, situated in the southern part of the municipality. Homemade food, horseback riding and gorgeous alpine meadows await the guests who stay at these farms. Despite its remoteness from civilization, Zirbenhof provides itself with solar energy; alternative renewable energy is no longer a rarity in European villages. In addition to natural beauty, tourists can enjoy the manmade attractions of Heiligenblut, including the main square, several churches and the old mill.
Perhaps, the main symbol of the village is the parish of Heiligenblut, its highest tower is easily visible on a clear day. Unfortunately, the original building with its long history was not preserved to our day, but now we can see the church, restored at the beginning of the last century. Everything is perfect in it from the stunning architecture, interior elements, the altar and the throne, to the pipe organ and the old crypt.
