Kals am Großglockner. View of the Village from Rotenkogel Mountainside

We are looking at the slope of Mount Rotenkogel. On top of this mountain are two popular ski resorts, Kals-Matrei and Kalser Bergbahnen. The main station of the first of them is located in the neighboring municipality of Matrei in Osttirol, which is located on the western slope of Mount Rotenkogel, and the second base is in the community of Kals am Grossglockner.

The cable ways of Cimaross and Kals I can take you to the highest point of the ski slopes at a height of 2380 meters above sea level, which is only 340 meters lower than Rotenkogel.

What else can we see? Firstly, the scenic Kalzer stream and, secondly, the village of Lesach (to the right). This village is located close to Kals am Grossglockner and has cheap hotels, compared to those that are built right at the ski resort stations.
