Krimml. Austrian Cuisine Restaurant, Krimmler Tauernhaus

Austrian mountain valleys can be divided into two categories. Some are built up by small resort villages, where you can go skiing or snowboarding, and others have remained virtually untouched. This camera is installed in the “natural” zone, in the Krimmler Tauernhaus restaurant.

The valley of the Krimmler Ache river, which we see on the screen, is too narrow to be built up by houses, so restaurants and small hotels are most often built in such zones. Krimmler Tauernhaus has an incredibly rich history. A tavern appeared on this site in 1389 (documents of those years testify to this). The modern building was built in the 20th century, but it is of great historical value today.

The tavern is located at an altitude of 1,622 meters above sea level. It is built on a mountain path that connects Austrian and Italian lands. For several centuries, travelers stopped in this tavern to rest during their difficult trip through the Alps. In only the 19th century, did farmers began to populate the Krimmler Ache valley, when they appreciated the pastures in this suburb of Krimml.

In addition to delicious Austrian dishes, travelers can find accommodation in Tauernhaus. Double rooms cost from 55 euros per night.
