Mellau. Panorama of the Community
Austrian ski resorts are not always about extreme trails on the Alpine slopes. At the northern borders, the mountains are not so high, which is good for beginners. One of these resorts is Mellau. The municipality borders Switzerland and Germany.
The textile industry used to be the main economic component of Mellau. Over the past 100 years, the population of the village has doubled, and at the height of the holiday season, Mellau becomes home for thousands of tourists from all over the world.
The panoramic camera is installed in Hotel Kanisfluh, in the heart of Mellau. Seven nights in this three-star hotel cost 1,000 euros for two. This is the standard price for hotels in ski resorts.
On the screen, we can see the main sights of the community — the parish church of Mellau and the ski resort, Damüls Mellau. The first church appeared in the area in 1446. It was reconstructed several times, and after a major fire in the middle of the 19th century, it was completely rebuilt. Only the tower of 1870 has been preserved to this day. We can see it on the screen.
The lift station of the ski resort is located in the northern part of the community, in the Oberfeld district. Funiculars run on the opposite side of the mountain, from the village of Damüls to the top of the mountain.
