Murau. Town Panorama
Murau is a beautiful town in the Alpine valley, famous for its ski resort, Kreischberg. However, there are not many tourists in the town because the ski slopes are in the western suburbs, where all necessary infrastructure is built for the holiday-makers. Ski shops, hotels and restaurants are all in the areas of St. Georgen ob Murau and St. Lorenzen ob Murau.
The camera is installed on the banks of the Mur River, near the Murau-Stolzalpe railway station. When you rotate the camera from west to north, several important Murau objects appear in front of us. First is one of the bridges, along which you can cross the river, but the most famous among tourists is the Mursteg Bridge, located in the immediate vicinity of the station. The bridge is remarkable in that it connects the banks of the river, the heights of which differ by almost 10 meters.
The next attraction is the Roman Catholic church of Murau. The Church, from the end of the 13th century, acquired new outbuildings throughout its history. Large-scale restoration work was carried out after the Second World War and in the mid-70’s.
And of course, you should not bypass the magnificent castle of Obermurau, erected on a high hill, we can see it behind the church. The first castle in Murau appeared at the beginning of the 13th century, but we are looking at construction from the middle of the 17th century.
