Spital am Pyhrn. Wurzeralm Station
Wurzeralm is a high-altitude summer pasture, which in the winter months turns into a mecca of skiers. Here, the trails and funiculars are built on the slope of the Dead Mountains (Totes Gebirge). The camera is installed on the upper station of the Wurzeralmbahn ski lift, the full-value attraction of Spital am Pyhrn. The lift is a railway with cars, accommodating up to 165 passengers.
The three-kilometer railway was built on the slopes of Wurzeralm in 1978, and the last major overhaul was carried out in 1995. Trains move at a speed of 14 meters per second, so from Highway 138 where the lower lift station is located, to the top station, takes not more than 4.5 minutes.
At the upper station of Wurzeralmbahn, we can see a small town with restaurants, hotels and shops. From here, you can go to the west, where there are several cable cars serving the most exciting trails in the Wurzeralm area.
Would you like to wake up in the mountains every morning, and get on your skies at once? No problem. In Wurzeralm there are several guest houses, such as Naturfreundehaus Wurzeralm, built in the late 1970s.
