Thumersbach. Zeller See
The large mountain lake, Zeller, is located in the Alps, at an altitude of 750 meters above sea level. We are looking at the panorama of the lake from the eastern shore, from the village of Thumersbach. Most tourists come here from Salzburg. The journey by train takes about an hour and a half. Believe me, time will fly by, unnoticed, because picturesque Alpine landscapes are constantly changing outside the window. The cost of a train ticket is 16-18 euros.
Grand Hotel, which is the most popular hotel here, is built on the opposite shore. The four-star hotel is located on a small stretch of land going into the lake and because of this, it seems that the Grand Hotel is built right on the water.
Most tourists stop in the surrounding mountain villages, where you can find affordable housing. In this case, one walk to the lake can become an excellent journey. Such mountain apartments, like the ones on Reiterweg Street, offer a spectacular view of the lake.
The approximate size of the lake is four and a half kilometers. The maximum depth is 70 meters. The lake was formed as a result of melting ice, during the Ice Age, about 17,000 years ago.
