Wildschönau. Markbachjoch Station

Since 1995, the Doppelmayr cab elevator has been operating in the Niederau area of the Austrian Wildschönau Resort. Thanks to the panoramic glazing of the cabins, tourists enjoy the Alpine landscape views during a six-minute journey up the mountain.

We are at the top station of Markbachjoch, where the ski slopes begin. There are also several mountain hotels and restaurants, as well as an old chapel. Both mountain huts and hotels, located in the lower part of the resort, have their advantages. The Nidderau area has more recreational facilities, and on the mountain slopes, tourists can enjoy a quiet and cozy atmosphere.

In the summer, most tourists prefer to go to the upper station of Markbachjoch on foot, though they can also go there along a dirt road by car.
