Zagreb. View of Trg Bana Josipa Jelačića from the Tourist Center

This is another point on our website from which you can see a square in Zagreb, Trg bana Josipa Jelačića. This time we can see almost the entire square from a tall building in its eastern part.

In the background, there is a small fountain around which it is convenient to sit on the steps of an improvised staircase. In the center of the square is a monument to Ban Josip Jelačić, the Austrian commander and Croatian statesman who abolished serfdom. The sculpture of the ban on horseback appeared here in the middle of the 19th century. In the days of communism, this statue was removed from the square, but was restored in 1990, though the sculpture is now directed to the south.

The square has been located here since the 17th century. This is evidenced by several buildings around the square, which are built in different architectural styles of different epochs.

In addition to classical European architecture, we can see modern buildings, such as the skyscraper in the left part of the image, located at 1a Ilica Street. It is a popular 360 ° viewing platform of Zagreb.
