Holešov. The Castle of Holešov
There are about 2,500 castles in the Czech Republic, so it is not surprising that they can be found even in small towns like Holešov. Holešov Castle is located in the heart of the city, to the east of the central square of Edvard Benes. The castle’s present appearance dates back to the 70s of the seventeenth century. Until then, according to historical documents, there was a fortress from the thirteenth century in Holešov.
At first, it was a Gothic castle, later rebuilt in the Renaissance style. Its predecessor was sacked and burned by the Swedes, during the Thirty Years’ War.
For many years, the castle has been used as the opera space. You can rent a hall for a wedding or other festive events at the castle and art exhibitions are also held there.
The camera is installed in the garden, where residents and visitors of Holešov can skate and play hockey in the winter.
