Helsinki. The Vuosaari Harbour
We are now observing one of the harbours of the new seaport of Helsinki. Vuosaari Harbour is located in the eastern part of the capital. This new port was opened in 2008 and helped to reduce the load over the existing ports if Helsinki. The harbour has a total land area of 150 hectares, while total length of its cargo docks comprises about 1,5 kilometres.
This webcam has been placed on the 13-story building of Gate House, which is a modern office building with cafes and restaurants and even a passage for pedestrians and cyclers on its third floor.
Vuosaari has both cargo and passenger terminals. The passenger port has regular connection with the ports of Travemunde, Rostock and Gdynia. Total construction costs of the new port of Vuosaari run up to 500 million euro, something that has received very much negative attention.
