Paris. Basilica Sacre Coeur

Guests of the French capital usually spend a few days exploring its center and only then study Paris more closely. If you are bored with views of the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe, go to the outskirts. Here, you will find no less impressive architecture and atmosphere.

We are in the Clignancourt area, the camera is installed on the roof of a residential building, on the east side of Louise Michel Square. The main object of the webcam is the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Sacré-Coeur. This Catholic church was built in Paris at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The site for the construction of the basilica was not chosen by chance, the top of the Montmartre is the highest point of the city.

The church was erected in memory of the victims of the Franco-Prussian war. The construction, which lasted for almost 40 years, was repeatedly interrupted for strengthening of the soil in which ancient quarries were found. On both sides of the the portico entrance, you can see statues of Jeanne d’Arc and Louis the Saint on horseback.

And this is how Paris looks from the basilica, built at an altitude of 130 meters above the city.
