The observation camera to the south of the center of Berlin shows us just a few sights of the German capital. From A100 motorway, we can have a look at Tempelhofer Feld, the Berlin Cathedral, the Berlin TV Tower, the former Berlin-Tempelhof Airport, Rotes Rathaus and other interesting sites.
Busy traffic on Bundesautoban 100, which the camera also periodically shows to viewers, has a length of 21 kilometers. Built in 1958, the highway connected the northwestern Berlin district of Wedding with the Neukölln district.
First, the camera shows us the territory of the former Berlin-Tempelhof airport. It had been operating for almost 100 years, since the 1920s. Until the beginning of the 20th century, Tempelhof field had served as a parade ground for soldiers. It is noteworthy that the first route from this airport connected Berlin with modern Kaliningrad, at that time it was a German city with the name Koenigsberg.
The airport was developing rapidly and, in the late 1930s, a gigantic airport terminal that became the largest building in the world was built there. The length of the arc-shaped building, which can be seen in this image, is more than 1 kilometer, so the airport station has received the title of one of the longest buildings in the world. The airport was closed because it was too close to the city center.
