This webcam is located in Berlin, the capital city and one of the largest cities in Germany. This city has a unique role in German history, culture, politics, media, and science.
Webcam captures The Reichstag building. It was opened in 1894 and since that time has served as a meeting place of the German parliament (except a period after World War II, when it was almost completely ruined).
Another famous landmark of the city seen on this picture is The Brandenburg Gate. The Brandenburg Gate was built in the 18th-century and is a typical example of a neoclassical triumphal arch. The gate bears the name “Brandenburg” because of the ancient road that starts at that place and leads from Berlin to the town of Brandenburg an der Havel, a town that played a very important role in the early German history.
The Berlin Television Tower, which is also captured by this webcam, is located in central part of the city. It is 368 meters high and is the tallest building in Germany (and the second tallest structure in the European Union). The Tower features an exceptional panoramic view over the entire city and reveals almost all of it centrally located points of touristic interest: The Berlin Cathedral, The Red City Hall, The Neptune Fountain, The Saint Mary’s Church and the beautiful shore of the Spree River.
