The German town of Cuxhaven is located on the shore of the Watt Sea, near the border with Denmark. The history of the town is inextricably linked with its location. The coast in this place was the first defensive line of Hamburg, which is why fortresses, such as Fort Kugelbake, were built in Cuxhaven.

Tourism and fishing replaced the strategic importance of Cuxhaven at the beginning of the 20th century. For more than half a century, travelers went from Hamburg to Cuxhaven by a specially constructed railway and then changed to ocean liners in the port of Cuxhaven. It is worth noting that tourism in the town itself began to develop even earlier; the sea shore of Cuxhaven has been popular since 1816, when the mayor actively began to develop the tourist infrastructure.

Now, the town is famous for its spa hotels and several noteworthy sites, which people come from all over Europe to see. In addition to the port with its viewing platforms, one of which you can see on the screen, in Cuxhaven you can have a look at the 230-meter television tower of Friedrich Clemens Gerke, an old water tower, and also visit the Island of Neuwerk.

Unbelievably, the Island of Neuwerk, located five kilometers from the shore, and is visited by mud hikers at low tide, when travelers can walk to the island along the shallow seabed.
