Fehmarn. Fehmarnsund. The Baltic Sea View
Fehmarn is a unique island in the Baltic Sea belonging to Germany. It is connected with the rest of the country by Fehmarn Sound Bridge, the length of which is almost a kilometer. In the coming years, the island will get another connection to the mainland, as the German and Danish authorities signed an agreement, in 2007, to build a bridge across the strait dividing Fehmarn and the island of Lolland.
We are looking at Fehmarnsund Coast area. Ornithologists from around the world know the island as a convenient place for observing migratory birds. One can often find surfers looking for a suitable place for sports, all along the coast of the island.
One of the most significant events in the history of the island is the final concert of Jimi Hendrix at Open Air Love & Peace Festival. This event took place at the beginning of September, 1970.
