Hildesheim. Marktplatz

Webcam is located on the central square of Hildesheim, which is one of the oldest cities in Germany. The old market place (Marktplatz) was one day considered to be the most beautiful market places in the world.

Hildesheim was severely damaged by air raids in 1945. The city center, which had kept its medieval character until then, was almost destroyed. Fortunately, most of the major churches, two of them today UNESCO World Heritage Sites (The Romanesque Hildesheim Cathedral and Saint Michael’s Church), were rebuilt true the originals soon after the war.

Hildesheim is, by the way, home to notable multinational corporations as Bosch, Krupp, Thyssen, Fairchild and Coca-Cola.
